Hi Vanama,

I think the Casino only posts if someone wins the Jackpot looking at the settings (is this correct? ps. how does one win the Jackpot? ).

Is it possible to include individual game results also? Ie. Heading (linked to casino) "Casino" "NuMoon won xxx points in GAMENAME" or something like that? Would be cooler, I only installed the shoutbox at all because there were no other notifications (at the time anyway) for the RPS and BlackJack (many thanks for including SuperMessenger, it is awesome!), but it is nice to have PUArcade reporting in there too anyway now. It just feels at the minute like the Casino is the poor relation as everything else in my gaming section reports to it (well more fully anyway, I haven't seen the Jackpot come up yet, no one has won it while I have been looking anyway...



On another note, I have managed to get the RPS to report to SuperActivity newsfeeds no problems (well at least challenges, but the rest is the samne with minor adjustments, so all will be well). The same will be the case for BlackJack and I will do the casino when I am done with them (I have to do a different one for each activity, win, lose, draw, challenge, and then all again for the other user, only done challenges sent so far). When I am done I shall prepare a newsfeed image of it all and post it so people can see how cool it all looks. Currently it reports as in the attached image (composite of mine and another users newsfeeds). Should all be a really cool addition to my site when done (thanks for your excellent work btw ). Shouldn't be too long before I have the rest all figured out...

Nice work on the super activity...wish they would have continued their support for J1.0 users keep having to add hacks to the code.
As for the shouts it becomes a query monster (ala puarcade)..and many player that help me test don't want their winings posted, makes it too easy for members to see what games are loose. Also becomes a pain needing to hide shouts of vip and or private games as well. but I'm sure if Vanama like the idea he can add the proper options.

For casino activity for super activity I'm working on clauses that will either show user hit it big/ lost their shirt (via threshold) in the casino with no game or point info being displayed.

Seriously, J1.0? it isn't such a big deal to upgrade, I did my site from 1.0 to 1.5 with suprising ease (genuinely was expecting major hassle, but it all went fine and smooth), the longer you leave it....

Right, ok, I see what you are saying (but a bit pointless to compete in secrecy no?). Not using the VIP thing myself, seems unfair (I am all for equal rights, but then my site is free...).

As for the Casino/SuperActivity, that should be easy to do, just set up activities with threshold amounts (so two activity types for each activity), ie. IF > 3000 then 'Player won some', IF < 3000 then 'player won big', and same for losses etc, you can put sql straight into the custom activities component so I see no reson for this not to work (though perhaps I should check with Chris first...).

I am not sure what you mean by query monster for PUArcade though, I have never had any trouble (but then my site isnt hugely busy), does it cause trouble if the site is highly active or something? If that is the case I may just use the messaging for notifications and the feeds for interactive history and unpublish the shoutbox... .

[edit] ps. there are game stats on every game anyway showing the chances of winning, how much won and how much lost, so no one is hiding their info anyway really

As for upgrading its just not possible to many custom or modified components and mods. half of the exstensions don't exist in J1.5 or are nolonger free. This will happen again with J1.6 again as their will be no upgrade path from J1.5 it'll be another migration. On bigger sites with many plugins J1.0 is still much faster. There are still tons of J1.0 users...shame Joomla DEvs frown on coders who still support J1.0. Again it wasn't broke and as for its flaws J1.5 has just as many, Yes I do run J1.5 sites as well. The biggest issue in the future is php 5.3 as it breaks most software not written to use it.

Yes, I aleady made the code for the activites. point was I have to hack my module as there is no expert activites addon for J1.0. Chris said he would email me the J1.5 extensions for me to convert in exchange for giving him the completed conversions, but he seems to have changed his mind and doesn't respond to my emails or posts anymore so I gave up.

As for casino secrecy I don't view the casino as being competitive player vs player thats what the arcade is for. I've got both vip category and a private password protected (adult casino games). links to those don't want to be displayed for all users. I've modded my code for casino and modules not to display the private cat. games.

Not a query monster for PU Arcade, but rather PU Arcade has become one due to all these triggers etc. And yes it doesn't really show unless you have a larger site.

J1.0 is faster? Oh, didn't expect to hear that (seems a bit odd, I thought the idea was to improve it, )

Can J1.0 not be forked? It was a fork from mambo anyway (though I think the licencing may be stricter to prevent it maybe?). It seems a shame if there are people relying on it, and it is not like it has financial value, especially as it is discontinued. Perhaps you could bid for it and rename it Toomla! or Jinker! maybe?

It is interesting how people use the same component with so different a viewpoint , I guess it wasn't set up quite as I would aim at (I went straight in and turned off the adverts and vip business, he he). But I don't suppose the original question matters now, as you have probably convinced me to axe the shoutbox (though later maybe, when I have finished playing with the newsfeeds and the BlackJack has the PMS integration that is). I just have it running along side PUArcade as an alternative... . Mind you, I see the Casino as a bit of a bonus really, what I really wanted was the BlackJack and the RPS (and more the BlackJack, as I already had PURPS anyway), Casino was better than I expected though, I have enjoyed playing a few of the games for points that I wouldn't have bothered to put into PUArcade (not a fan of gambling, especially if you don't actually win anything!).

Seems odd for Chris, but I know he has been busy on a few 'projects' lately (didn't tell me what though)... Are you saying you managed to hack additional components straight into your version? What did you do? Replace components you didn't need with the tables and sql of ones you do want (or if not, have you considered trying that?).


I guess I don't have to worry about query mosters for the minute though (my site pretty small, did you register the other day btw?), but it is pointless doing things that are going to develop into problems I guess.
